MARCH SNOW: Yes, there is a good chance of snow over about the northern third of Alabama early Saturday morning. There is no need to panic…
*Light accumulation is possible, if not likely, on grassy areas over North Alabama. Amounts will be generally 1 inch or less. This is no Blizzard of 93…
*Accumulation potential will be limited by warm soil temperatures… the high Friday afternoon will be in the low 70s before the cold front arrives.
*The best chance of snow will come from roughly midnight Friday night until 8 AM Saturday.
*Travel impact will be limited; there could be a few icy spots on bridges across the Tennessee Valley Saturday morning. Most roads will be simply wet.
*Temperatures early Sunday morning will drop into the 18 to 24-degree range over the northern half of Alabama… it will be a significant late-season freeze. Freezing temperatures are likely all the way to the Gulf Coast.
