Cedar Bluff Woman Arrested on Methamphetamine Trafficking Charge Following Traffic Stop in Berea Community

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — A Cedar Bluff woman is facing multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop in the Berea community led to the discovery of methamphetamine and other illegal substances, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the woman as 40-year-old Latrisha Mobbs of Cedar Bluff.


According to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was conducting additional patrols in the Berea community Tuesday night, October 6, following complaints from residents concerning suspected drug activity in the area.


During the patrol, the deputy observed a motorist who was not wearing a seat belt and initiated a traffic stop. During the encounter, authorities reportedly discovered what the Sheriff’s Office described as a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, along with other illegal drugs.

Mobbs was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

Trafficking methamphetamine

Unlawful possession of a controlled substance

Unlawful possession of marijuana, second degree

Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia


Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver emphasized the importance of community involvement in identifying and addressing suspected criminal activity.


“When people in our communities report problems, we want them to know we’re listening. Information about illegal activity helps us give more attention to areas where problems are being reported and work to address them,” Shaver said.


The arrest highlights the Sheriff’s Office’s efforts to respond to concerns raised by residents and increase law enforcement presence in areas where suspected illegal activity has been reported.
