FORT PAYNE, Ala.- The Fort Payne City Council held a Special Called Meeting, on Tuesday, August 30.At the meeting the Fort Payne City Council voted to declare the city-owned property located on Highway 35, beside the former Jefferson’s restaurant as surplus and no longer needed for City use.Mayor Brian Baine was authorized to enter into a contract, on behalf of the city, to sell property to Mahogany Properties, LLC, the developer of a Whataburger franchise.Whataburger is an American fast food restaurant chain, headquartered and based in Texas, that specializes in hamburgers.
