Taniesa L. Sullivan | The Weekly Ledger News | WEIS

LEESBURG, Ala. - Christmas toy and bike giveaway for needy children in the area.

On Saturday, December 24 starting at 9 a.m. in Leesburg at the Cherokee Storage they'll be giving away free toys, along with refurbished bicycles, scooters, and more to needy children in the area, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This Christmas giveaway is an annual event, sponsored by Little River Baptist Church and Richard Mathis.

Mr. Mathis first started repairing bicycles while working with missionaries in Mexico and when he returned to the states in 2010 he continued the tradition.

Mr. Mathis realized that this was a wonderful way to help children in need during one of the most important times of the year.

There is a wide variety of items to choose from with an emphasis on toys designed for smaller children.  You don’t have to pre-register, just show up starting at 9 a.m. Saturday morning on December 24, said Mr. Mathis.

Cherokee Storage is located at 5190 Weiss Lake Boulevard in Leesburg, Ala.  For additional information call (256) 300-0327.
